Training practice

Training practice

Eve Hill is a training practice for the Royal College of General Practitioners and the UK Foundation Year Training programme. We support the education of doctors at different stages of their postgraduate training.

At various times throughout the year, Resident Doctors may work at the practice as part of their approved NHS training programmes. These are fully qualified doctors and registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and work under the supervision of experienced GP trainers.

Resident Doctors working in the practice may include:

  • Resident Doctors in General Practice specialty training (previously known as GP registrars), who are training to become independent GPs
  • Foundation Year 2 (FY2) doctors, who are completing the second year of the national Foundation Training Programme and undertake a supervised placement in general practice, usually lasting around four months

These doctors bring up-to-date knowledge, skills and experience from hospital and community settings and are valued members of our clinical team.

What this means for you

Resident Doctors see and treat patients as part of their training and always have access to support and supervision from a fully qualified GP. You may be offered an appointment with a Resident Doctor or an FY2 doctor, which helps support NHS workforce training and the development of future GPs.

If you would prefer not to see a doctor in training, please let our reception team know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Video-recorded consultations

As part of their training and assessment, Resident Doctors in GP specialty training may be required to video-record some consultations to demonstrate their consultation and communication skills.

Your consent will always be requested. You are under no obligation to agree, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Recordings are handled confidentially, viewed only by the Resident Doctor and their supervising GP, and are deleted once training requirements are met or when the doctor leaves the practice.

Medical students

We also support the education of final-year medical students from partner universities. You may be asked if a student can observe or participate in your consultation under close supervision. Participation is entirely optional.
