Appointments with a Doctor

We offer 24 hour advanced access according to the government guidelines.

To make an appointment with the doctor call the surgery on 01384 254423 after 08:00. You will be offered an appointment for the next working day. Occasionally we have some free for the same day, depending on demand.

There will be a choice of doctors according to who is on duty that day. If you prefer to be seen by a particular doctor, you may be asked to call back on another day.

There are a limited number of pre-booked appointments that can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance. If you feel you need a pre-bookable appointment please ask.

As always, if you have an urgent medical problem you will be fitted in on the same day, but you will have to wait until the doctor is available to see you.

Appointments with a Nurse

You can pre-book appointments with the practice nurse more than 48 hours in advance.

You can consult the nurse for a number of different problems, including immunisations, travel vaccinations, dressings and wound care, cervical smears, contraception, blood pressure checks, weight monitoring, minor illnesses.

If you are not sure whether your problem can be dealt with by the nurse, please check with a receptionist who will be able to advise you further. You can make an appointment with a nurse by completing our Request an appointment with a Nurse or Healthcare Assistant form.

Information for under 18s

If you are under 18 years old, you do not need to attend an appointment with a parent or guardian. We are happy to see you by yourself, whatever your problem. Everything you say is kept entirely confidential.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please visit our online cancellation triage, as this will allow us to give the slot to someone else.

All calls in or out of the practice are recorded for quality, training and to inform any future queries you may have.
